ABOUT AMY
Yorkshire-based pianist Amy Butler studied with British concert pianist Martin Roscoe and gained a first class Master's degree from the University of Oxford.
Amy has a particular passion for chamber music and especially enjoys working collaboratively with other musicians. She regularly performs as a duo with award-winning artists including violinist Boglárka György and flautist Chris Hill. She also comprises one half of the Luna Piano Duo, alongside pianist Graziana Presicce, and one quarter of the Dash Quartet alongside flautist Della Blood, oboist Helena Bidder and clarinettist Sharon Walker.
Amy has performed extensively for venues and music societies across the UK, with recent highlights including Stratford-upon-Avon Music Society, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Melrose Music Society, St. Mary's Perivale (London), Warwick Arts Centre, Evesham Music Club, North Westmorland Arts, Weymouth Chamber Concerts, the Eric Coates Society and the Guild of Musicians and Singers (London). She also recently took part in Wye Valley Chamber Music, performing DvoÅ™ák's 'Dumky' Trio with violinist Boglárka György and cellist Robin Michael.
“…this was a rewarding recital of great musical integrity in which the players’ virtuosity and technical skill was directed towards realising the composers’ intentions”
Paul Conway, Musical Opinion

Amy enjoys performing a wide and varied repertoire – from well-known masterworks by composers including Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Grieg, Mozart, Prokofiev and Ravel, to new works by contemporary composers. In 2023 Amy and duo partner Graziana Presicce gave the world premiere of Fado Fantasy, a new work for piano four hands written especially for the duo by award-winning British composer Frederick Viner, and in 2025 they will give the world premiere of Lester Hough's Concertante for piano four hands. The duo also plan to record and release their first studio recording in 2025, supported by generous grants from the Francis Routh Trust and the Hull Philharmonic Trust. In 2024 Amy and violinist Boglárka György gave the second public performance of Dawn Walters' Dalton Holme, composed earlier that year, and they have also championed recent works by Australian-born composer Sadie Harrison and Estonian composer Erkki-Sven Tüür.

In recent years Amy has had the privilege of participating in masterclasses with leading musicians including Daniel Tong, Victor Sangiorgio, Krysia Osostowicz, Robin Ireland and David Patrick.

Amy is a firm believer in the power of music to inspire, uplift and bring people together. She is a staff pianist for the East Riding Music Service and accompanist for three Yorkshire-based choirs: Beverley Male Voice Choir, Snaith & District Choral Society and Sing2gether. She regularly performs outreach mini-concerts introducing schoolchildren to classical music. She also plays orchestral piano and celeste, performing with ensembles such as the Hull Philharmonic Orchestra.
Amy is also a co-founder and trustee of Howdenshire Music, a classical concert series based in Howden, East Yorkshire.
